about
I’m an artist, an art history professor, and a community builder. My current work is focussed on medium format oils and mixed media. Subjects are inspired by landscapes and architecture Rhode Island, Provincetown and Rome. I'm informed by a long-time photography practice and exhibition tours.
My career started in the 80s as a curator and writer until I began teaching. After adjunct positions at Simmons College, UMass Dartmouth and the University of Rhode Island, I began as the first Professor of Art History with the Community College of Rhode Island in 1993. Today, in addition to teaching, I'm making art, restoring historic structures, cultivating open conversations, and forming inclusive paradigms including the 2021 launch of www.ArtxHistory.org, an open education resource for Modern through Contemporary Art.
